All About Pearly Penile Papules
Pearly penile papules, also called hirsuitoid papillomas or hirsuties coronae glandis is a very common skin disorder that is also quite normal especially in men at a younger age and those who have been circumcised. Characterized by rows of small white pearly or flesh colored protrusions arranged neatly along the base of the corona or glans of the penis, these papules are harmless and usually disappear over a period of time. These are not at all contagious and as most fear, these are not a disease or a sexually transmitted condition. One has to be clear that these are only a normal skin disorder.
Pearly penile papules removal can be attempted if necessary and men remove them only for aesthetic reasons. However, their removal is not advised because of the possibility of unexpected consequences of the removal procedures. Proper and safe techniques should be used for removal of these papules. Some medical treatments can be used to remove them. First however, one must consult a dermatologist to be sure that the condition is pearly penile papules and not any other serious infection or disease. The most effective medical removal method is the use of a CO2 laser treatment in which the papules are vaporized by the heat of the laser. This is a considerably safe method that takes less time and causes very less discomfort. Another method, known as electro surgery in which low-powered hyfrecator or high frequency eradicator is used to apply electric current of high frequency to remove the papules. This method can be completed in a few hours' time. Another method is the surgical excision method which is a little invasive and is performed under general anesthesia.
